KITCHEN NOHARA
A moment to unwind in the city.
Discover KITCHEN NOHARA in Nishi-Ojima, known for its mackerel sandwich plate, weekly changing delis, and spiced homemade carrot cake, accompanied by draft sparkling wine or specialty sours.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Drawing inspiration from Turkish street food for its mackerel sandwich, Canadian comfort fare for poutine, and varied seasonings for spice-forward small plates, KITCHEN NOHARA serves up homestyle culinary ideas from around the world. The mackerel sandwich plate pairs a substantial piece of grilled fish with a squeeze of fresh lemon and thoughtful side dishes for a genuinely filling meal. A deli plate with selections that change on a whim might feature Asian-style braised pork, dim sum, or seasonal vegetable sides, with a rice-free option available when ordering it as an accompaniment to drinks.
Draft sparkling wine poured straight from the keg and crisp spice sours complement Turkish-style meatballs and seasoned edamame well. The drinks list is equally flexible, extending to red and white natural wines, whisky, and Liefmans, a tart Belgian fruit beer, to suit whatever the evening calls for.
Desserts baked in-house are just as central to a meal here or a relaxed café pause. The signature carrot cake features a moist crumb fragrant with spices and packed with grated carrots, designed to be enjoyed alongside carefully brewed hot coffee. A rich cheesecake and seasonal cakes also rotate onto the counter, and baked sweets can be taken away to go.
Set within an inviting green-toned interior with counter and table seating, the space opens from 15:00, welcoming diners whether for an early-evening bite or a quiet solo drink.
